If h4_recv_buf() return ERR_PTR instead sk_buff pointer, it should be
cleared once PTR_ERR is completed for the further dereference such as
h4_recv(), or h4_close().

[ Upstream commit c7c999cb18da88a881e10e07f0724ad0bfaff770 ]
hci_vhci driver creates a hci device object dynamically upon each
HCI_VENDOR_PKT write. Although it checks the already created object
and returns an error, it's still racy and may build multiple hci_dev
objects concurrently when parallel writes are performed, as the device
tracks only a single hci_dev object.
This patch introduces a mutex to protect against the concurrent device
creations.

[ Upstream commit 13407376b255325fa817798800117a839f3aa055 ]
The write handler allocates skbs and queues them into data->readq.
Read side should read them, if there is any. If there is none, skbs
should be dropped by hdev->flush. But this happens only if the device
is HCI_UP, i.e. hdev->power_on work was triggered already. When it was
not, skbs stay allocated in the queue when /dev/vhci is closed. So
purge the queue in ->release.
Program to reproduce:
#include <err.h>
#include <fcntl.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#include <sys/stat.h>
#include <sys/types.h>
#include <sys/uio.h>
int main()
{
char buf[] = { 0xff, 0 };
struct iovec iov = {
.iov_base = buf,
.iov_len = sizeof(buf),
};
int fd;
while (1) {
fd = open("/dev/vhci", O_RDWR);
if (fd < 0)
err(1, "open");
usleep(50);
if (writev(fd, &iov, 1) < 0)
err(1, "writev");
usleep(50);
close(fd);

[ Upstream commit 373a32c848ae3a1c03618517cce85f9211a6facf ]
Both vhci_get_user and vhci_release race with open_timeout work. They
both contain cancel_delayed_work_sync, but do not test whether the
work actually created hdev or not. Since the work can be in progress
and _sync will wait for finishing it, we can have data->hdev allocated
when cancel_delayed_work_sync returns. But the call sites do 'if
(data->hdev)' *before* cancel_delayed_work_sync.
As a result:
* vhci_get_user allocates a second hdev and puts it into
data->hdev. The former is leaked.
* vhci_release does not release data->hdev properly as it thinks there
is none.
Fix both cases by moving the actual test *after* the call to
cancel_delayed_work_sync.
This can be hit by this program:
#include <err.h>
#include <fcntl.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <time.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#include <sys/stat.h>
#include <sys/types.h>
int main(int argc, char **argv)
{
int fd;
srand(time(NULL));
while (1) {
const int delta = (rand() % 200 - 100) * 100;
fd = open("/dev/vhci", O_RDWR);
if (fd < 0)
err(1, "open");
usleep(1000000 + delta);
close(fd);
}
return 0;
}
And the result is:

commit 7bee8b08c428b63aa4a3765bb907602e36355378 upstream.
Commit 1c8ba6d013 moved around the setup code for broadcomm chips,
and also added btbcm_read_verbose_config() to read extra information
about the hardware. It's returning errors on some macbooks:
Bluetooth: hci0: BCM: Read verbose config info failed (-16)
Which makes us error out of the setup function. Since this
probe isn't critical to operate the chip, this patch just changes
things to carry on when it fails.

commit e66890a96abbb746e1229c3067471be36dc49b34 upstream.
This patch fixes the command length alignment issue for Intel Bluetooth
8260.
The length of parameters in the firmware downloading command must be
multiplication of 4. If not, the command must append Intel_NOP command
with extra parameters, zeros, at the end, and the firmware file is
already included Intel_NOP command for alignment.
This patch checks the next command and if the next command is Intel_NOP
command, it reads the Intel_NOP command and send them together.
For example, if the data from the firmware file looks like this:
8E FC 03 11 22 33 02 FC 03 00 00 00
Previously, btusb sends two commands:
09 FC 06 8E FC 03 11 22 33
09 FC 06 02 FC 03 00 00 00
This won't work because the length of parameters are 6 which violates
the 4 byte alignment.
This patch will append them together and send as one command:
09 FC 0C 8E FC 03 11 22 33 02 FC 03 00 00 00

Realtek ship a variety of bluetooth USB devices that identify
themselves with standard USB Bluetooth device class values, but
require a special driver to actually work. Without that driver,
you never get any scan results.
More recently however, Realtek appear to have wisened up and simply
posted a firmware update that makes these devices comply with
normal btusb protocols. The firmware needs to be uploaded on each boot.
Based on Realtek code from https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723au_bt
('new' branch).
This enables bluetooth support in the Gigabyte Brix GB-BXBT-2807 which
has this RTL8723BE USB device:

There is no change to the USB descriptor after firmware update,
however the version read by HCI_OP_READ_LOCAL_VERSION changes from
0x8723 to 0x3083.
This has also been tested on RTL8723AE and RTL8821AE. Support for
RTL8761A has also been added, but that is untested.

This adds the protocol support for Broadcom based UART devices to
enable firmware and patchram download procedure. It is a pretty
straight forward H:4 driver with the exception of actually having
its own setup and address configuration callbacks.

The setup callback got wrongly inserted between the enqueue and dequeue
callbacks. Move it to a better location.

The version number is cosmetic, but pretty handy for debugging purposes
and since the Broadcom protocol support is now optional, just increase
it to indicate the difference.

The quirks for Broadcom devices can be set from the setup function and
to keep the code simple, just move them into Broadcom support module.

With the generic Broadcom Bluetooth support module, it is possible to
turn support for firmware and patchram download into an optional
feature.
To keep backwards compatibility with previous kernel configurations,
the new option defaults to enabled.

To unify the controller setup of Broadcom devices between USB and UART
transport, add the patchram download support into the Broadcom module.

The new Broadcom Bluetooth support module provides generic functionality
for changing and checking the Bluetooth device address. Use these new
features instead of keeping a duplicate in the driver.

The majority of Broadcom Bluetooth vendor commands are shared between
USB and UART transports. This creates a separate module that eventually
will hold all Broadcom specific commands, but for now just start with
the commands to change the Bluetooth public address and check for the
default address.

This version number is more cosmetic and for debugging purposes, but
since there has been a few changes lately, increase it now.
Two left-over and not used version constants that were never exposed
anywhere are removed since they have no actual value.

The init function for each HCI UART protocol prints the same on success
and failure. This information is so generic, remove it and let the main
HCI UART handling print it instead.

a simple way of adding a string identifier to the protocol.
