2013-12-18[media] v4l: of: Return an int in v4l2_of_parse_endpoint()Laurent Pinchart
When CONFIG_OF is not defined the v4l2_of_parse_endpoint() function is defined as a stub that returns -ENOSYS. Make the real function return an integer as well to be able to differentiate between the two cases. 2013-12-04[media] V4L: Add mem2mem ioctl and file operation helpersSylwester Nawrocki
This patch adds ioctl helpers to the V4L2 mem-to-mem API, so we can avoid several ioctl handlers in the mem-to-mem video node drivers that are simply a pass-through to the v4l2_m2m_* calls. These helpers will only be useful for drivers that use same mutex for both OUTPUT and CAPTURE queue, which is the case for all currently in tree v4l2 m2m drivers. In order to use the helpers the drivers are required to use struct v4l2_fh. 2013-10-31[media] V4L2: soc-camera: work around unbalanced calls to .s_power()Guennadi Liakhovetski
Some non soc-camera drivers, e.g. em28xx, use subdevice drivers, originally written for soc-camera, which use soc_camera_power_on() and soc_camera_power_off() helpers to implement their .s_power() methods. Those helpers in turn can enable and disable a clock, if it is supplied to them as a parameter. This works well when camera host drivers balance their calls to subdevices' .s_power() methods. However, some such drivers fail to do that, which leads to unbalanced calls to v4l2_clk_enable() / v4l2_clk_disable(), which then in turn produce kernel warnings. Such behaviour is wrong and should be fixed, however, sometimes it is difficult, because some of those drivers are rather old and use lots of subdevices, which all should be tested after such a fix. To support such drivers this patch adds a work-around, allowing host drivers or platforms to set a flag, in which case soc-camera helpers will only enable the clock, if it is disabled, and disable it only once on the first call to .s_power(0). 2013-10-31[media] V4L2: add a v4l2-clk helper macro to produce an I2C device IDGuennadi Liakhovetski
To obtain a clock reference consumers supply their device object to the V4L2 clock framework. The latter then uses the consumer device name to find a matching clock. For that to work V4L2 clock providers have to provide the same device name, when registering clocks. This patch adds a helper macro to generate a suitable device name for I2C devices. 2013-08-18[media] v4l2: move dv-timings related code to v4l2-dv-timings.cHans Verkuil
v4l2-common.c contained a bunch of dv-timings related functions. Move that to the new v4l2-dv-timings.c which is a more appropriate place for them. There aren't many drivers that do HDTV, so it is a good idea to separate common code related to that into a module of its own. 2013-07-31[media] media: lirc: Allow lirc dev to talk to rc deviceSrinivas Kandagatla
The use case is simple, if any rc device has allowed protocols = RC_TYPE_LIRC and map_name = RC_MAP_LIRC set, the driver open will be never called. The reason for this is, all of the key maps except lirc have some KEYS in there map, so during rc_register_device process these keys are matched against the input drivers and open is performed, so for the case of RC_MAP_EMPTY, a vt/keyboard is matched and the driver open is performed. In case of lirc, there is no match and result is that there is no open performed, however the lirc-dev will go ahead and create a /dev/lirc0 node. Now when lircd/mode2 opens this device, no data is available because the driver was never opened. Other case pointed by Sean Young, As rc device gets opened via the input interface. If the input device is never opened (e.g. embedded with no console) then the rc open is never called and lirc will not work either. So that's another case. lirc_dev seems to have no link with actual rc device w.r.t open/close. This patch adds rc_dev pointer to lirc_driver structure for cases like this, so that it can do the open/close of the real driver in accordance to lircd/mode2 open/close. Without this patch its impossible to open a rc device which has RC_TYPE_LIRC ad RC_MAP_LIRC set. 2013-07-31[media] media: rc: Add rc_open/close and use count to rc_devSrinivas Kandagatla
This patch adds user count to rc_dev structure, the reason to add this new member is to allow other code like lirc to open rc device directly. In the existing code, rc device is only opened by input subsystem which works ok if we have any input drivers to match. But in case like lirc where there will be no input driver, rc device will be never opened. Having this user count variable will be usefull to allow rc device to be opened from code other than rc-main. This patch also adds rc_open and rc_close functions for other drivers like lirc to open and close rc devices. This functions safely increment and decrement the user count. Other driver wanting to open rc device should call rc_open and rc_close, rather than directly modifying the rc_dev structure.
