2020-11-10ASoC: audio-graph: Expose helpers from audio graphSameer Pujar
This commit exposes following functions which can be used by a sound card driver based on generic audio graph driver. Idea is vendors can have a thin driver and re-use common stuff from audio graph driver. - graph_card_probe() - graph_parse_of() In doing so a new header file is added for above. The graph_probe() function is simplified by moving more common stuff to graph_parse_of(). 2020-11-10ASoC: audio-graph: Expose new members for asoc_simple_privSameer Pujar
Add new members in struct 'asoc_simple_priv'. Idea is to leverage simple or graph card driver as much as possible and vendor can maintain a thin driver to control the behavior by populating these newly exposed members. Following are the members added in 'asoc_simple_priv': - 'ops' struct: In some cases SoC vendor drivers may want to implement 'snd_soc_ops' callbacks differently. In such cases custom callbacks would be used. - 'force_dpcm' flag: Right now simple or graph card drivers detect DAI links as DPCM links if: * The dpcm_selectable is set AND * Codec is connected to multiple CPU endpoints or aconvert property is used for rate/channels. So there is no way to directly specify usage of DPCM alone. So a flag is exposed to mark all links as DPCM. Vendor driver can set this if required. - 'dpcm_selectable': Currently simple or audio graph drivers provide a way to enable this for specific compatibles. However vendor driver may want to define some additional info. Thus expose this variable where vendor drivers can set this if required. Audio graph driver is updated to consider above flags or callbacks. Subsequent patches in the series illustrate usage for above. 2020-11-10ASoC: audio-graph: Support empty Codec endpointSameer Pujar
For open platforms, which can support pluggable audio cards, Codec endpoint is not fixed always. It actually depends on the compatible HW module that is going to be connected. From SoC side the given I/O interface is always available. Hence such links have fixed CPU endpoint but no Codec endpoint. This patch helps to support such links where user can populate Codec endpoint only and its fields in Platform DT depending on the plugged HW. 2020-11-10ASoC: audio-graph: Identify 'no_pcm' DAI links for DPCMSameer Pujar
PCM devices are created for FE dai links with 'no-pcm' flag as '0'. Such DAI links have CPU component which implement either pcm_construct() or pcm_new() at component or dai level respectively. Based on this, current patch exposes a helper function to identify such components and populate 'no_pcm' flag for DPCM DAI link. This helps to have BE<->BE component links where PCM devices need not be created for CPU component involved in such links. 2020-11-10ASoC: audio-graph: Use of_node and DAI for DPCM DAI link namesSameer Pujar
For multiple instances of components, using DAI name alone for DAI links is causing conflicts. Components can define multiple DAIs and hence using just a device name won't help either. Thus DT device node reference and DAI names are used to uniquely represent DAI link names. 2020-03-06ASoC: simple-card: Add support for codec2codec DAI linksSamuel Holland
Following the example in cb2cf0de1174 ("ASoC: soc-core: care Codec <-> Codec case by non_legacy_dai_naming"), determine if a DAI link contains only codec DAIs by examining the non_legacy_dai_naming flag in each DAI's component. For now, we assume there is only one or a small set of valid PCM stream parameters, so num_params == 1 is good enough. We also assume that the same params are valid for all supported streams. params is set to the subset of parameters common among all DAIs, and then the existing code automatically chooses the highest quality of the remaining values when the link is brought up. 2019-12-10ASoC: simple-card: Don't create separate link when platform is presentDaniel Baluta
In normal sound case all DAIs are detected as CPU-Codec. simple_dai_link_of supports the presence of a platform but it counts it as a CPU DAI resulting in the creation of an extra link. Adding a platform property to a link description like: simple-audio-card,dai-link { cpu { sound-dai = <&sai1>; }; plat { sound-dai = <&dsp>; }; codec { sound-dai = <&wm8960>; } will result in the creation of two links: * sai1 <-> wm8960 * dsp <-> wm8960 which is obviously not what we want. 2019-09-09SoC: simple-card-utils: set 0Hz to sysclk when shutdownKatsuhiro Suzuki
This patch set 0Hz to sysclk when shutdown the card. Some codecs set rate constraints that derives from sysclk. This mechanism works correctly if machine drivers give fixed frequency. But simple-audio and audio-graph card set variable clock rate if 'mclk-fs' property exists. In this case, rate constraints will go bad scenario. For example a codec accepts three limited rates (mclk / 256, mclk / 384, mclk / 512). Bad scenario as follows (mclk-fs = 256): - Initialize sysclk by correct value (Ex. 12.288MHz) - Codec set constraints of PCM rate by sysclk 48kHz (1/256), 32kHz (1/384), 24kHz (1/512) - Play 48kHz sound, it's acceptable - Sysclk is not changed - Play 32kHz sound, it's acceptable - Set sysclk to 8.192MHz (= fs * mclk-fs = 32k * 256) - Codec set constraints of PCM rate by sysclk 32kHz (1/256), 21.33kHz (1/384), 16kHz (1/512) - Play 48kHz again, but it's NOT acceptable because constraints do not allow 48kHz So codecs treat 0Hz sysclk as signal of applying no constraints to avoid this problem. The function asoc_simple_parse_daifmt() is called before the function asoc_simple_parse_codec() and this means that the device-tree node for the codec has not been parsed yet, which is needed by the function asoc_simple_parse_daifmt() to determine who is the codec. 2. The phandle passed to asoc_simple_parse_daifmt() is the phandle to the 'codec' node and not the phandle of the actual codec defined by the 'sound-dai' property under the 'codec' node. Fix the above by moving the call to asoc_simple_parse_daifmt() after the the call to asoc_simple_parse_codec() and pass the phandle for the codec to asoc_simple_parse_daifmt(). 2019-05-20ASoC: rename functions that pollute the simple_xxx namespaceAmir Goldstein
include/linux/fs.h defines a bunch of simple fs helpers, (e.g. simple_rename) and we intend to add an fs helper named simple_remove. Rename the ASoC driver static functions, so they will not collide with the upcoming fs helper function name. 2019-04-26ASoC: simple-card: Read pin switches conf from devicetreePaul Cercueil
When the routing path between a widget (e.g. "Speaker") and the codec goes through an external amplifier, having a pin switch for this widget allows the amplifier to be disabled when the widget is not to be used (e.g. when using headphones). 2019-04-04ASoC: simple-card: don't select DPCM via simple-audio-cardKuninori Morimoto
commit da215354eb55c ("ASoC: simple-card: merge simple-scu-card") merged simple-scu-audio-card which can handle DPCM into simple-audio-card. By this patch, the judgement to select "normal sound card" or "DPCM sound card" is based on its CPU/Codec DAI count. But, because of it, existing "simple-audio-card" user who is assuming "normal sound card" might select DPCM unintentionally. To solve this issue, this patch allows "simple-audio-card" user can select "normal sound card", and "simple-scu-audio-card" user can select both "normal sound card" and "DPCM sound card". This keeps compatibility collectry. commit ae3cb5790906b ("ASoC: audio-graph-card: merge audio-graph-scu-card") merged audio-graph-scu-card which can handle DPCM into audio-graph-card. By this patch, the judgement to select "normal sound card" or "DPCM sound card" is based on its OF-graph endpoint connection. But, because of it, existing "audio-graph-card" user who is assuming "normal sound card" might select DPCM unintentionally. li->conf will be 0 if it was not DPCM case. Then, 1) we shouldn't call devm_kcalloc() with size 0, 2) we need NULL pointer check if li->conf was not 0. This patch fixed above issues. 2019-03-21ASoC: simple-card-utils: rename asoc_simple_card_xxx() to asoc_simple_()Kuninori Morimoto
Current simple-card-utils is using asoc_simple_card_xxx() for each function naming, but it is very verbose. Thus it is easy to be over 80 char. This patch renames it to asoc_simple_xxx(). 2019-03-21ASoC: simple-card-utils: separate asoc_simple_card_parse_dai()Kuninori Morimoto
The difference between simple-card / audio-graph are just using OF graph style, or not. In other words, other things should be same. This means, simple-card/audio-graph common functions should be implemented at simple-card-utils, and its own functions should be implemented at each files. Current simple-card / audio-graph are using asoc_simple_card_parse_dai() which is different implementation. But, these are implemanted at simple-card-utils. It should be implemanted at each files. This patch separate these into each files. Signed-off-by: Kuninori Morimoto <kuninori.morimoto.gx@renesas.com> Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@kernel.org>
